About Chelsea (she/her)

My journey as a Licensed Professional Counselor has been deeply rewarding, shaped by a commitment to authentic, compassionate care. With over a decade of experience, I believe that building genuine connections creates a safe space for healing, empowering clients not just to endure but to truly thrive as they construct meaningful lives.

Before founding my private practice, I gained experience in diverse mental healthcare settings, including outpatient and inpatient care. I’ve worked with clients facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, self-harm, suicidality, psychosis, interpersonal conflicts, and life transitions. Across these experiences, I noticed a common thread: individuals striving to build lives worth living. This insight crystallized the importance of a holistic counseling approach—one that considers biological, psychological, environmental, and sociocultural influences. In 2017, I launched my private practice, which has since grown into Healgood Holistic Counseling Center.

I’m known for a direct, compassionate, collborative and relational therapeutic style, with a generous infusion of humor. I see my role as a guide, applying “gentle pressure relentlessly," helping my clients step into their power and take actionable steps toward their best lives. I also collaborate with other health professionals, such as psychiatrists and dietitians, to ensure comprehensive care tailored to each client’s unique needs.

My approach draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational Therapy, and trauma-informed care, integrating elements of interpersonal neurobiology, psychodynamic therapy, developmental psychology, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing. You can learn more about these therapeutic approaches here. My work is also rooted in Health at Every Size® and Intuitive Eating principles.

I’m committed to professional growth to provide the best care possible. I completed DBT Skills Training in 2012 and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) basic training in 2019. In 2019, I advanced my professional standing by obtaining licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor, where I provide supervision and training to the next generations of counselors. Recognizing the significance of my work with eating disorders, I earned the designation of Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) and Consultant (CEDS-C) from The International Association Of Eating Disorders Professionals in 2020. Acknowledging the unique challenges of the perinatal population, I expanded my expertise, earning a certificate as a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International (PSI) in 2023.

Beyond counseling, I actively contribute to the mental health community by providing supervision, consultation, and training. I’ve held leadership roles with non-profit organizations like Central Texas Eating Disorder Specialists (CTEDS) and the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), and I’ve shared my expertise in publications like Eating Disorder Hope, Addiction Hope, WebMD, Scary Mommy, and Fatherly.

Through my work at Healgood and in the broader mental health field, I strive to facilitate holistic healing, empower clients to navigate life’s challenges, and support the professional growth of compassionate clinicians.

Services & Fees

30-MINUTE CONSULTATION | FREE

New clients are offered a free initial 30-minute phone or face-to-face consultation. During a consultation, the therapist is happy to answer any questions you may have for them. You can discuss things like what to expect from therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist. You can also briefly discuss the concerns you are having and your reason for seeking counseling to ensure that you and the therapist you’re interested in working with will be a good fit for working together.
