Healgood’s Guiding Values
Collaboration: Counseling is a collaborative journey between therapist and client. We believe our clients are the experts of their own lives. We support our clients in processing their past, self-discovery, and goal setting which allows them to build their life worth living in the present.
Compassion: We believe that compassionate understanding and care leads to long-lasting change. We offer our clients a compassionate path to transformation - one that promotes insights, exploration, connection and self-empowerment.
Authenticity: Authentic therapist-client relationships generate the best therapeutic outcomes. Our therapists engage with their clients authentically and bring their own unique strengths, experiences, approaches, and personalities to the work they do with their clients.
Holistic Care: A holistic approach to healing considers each individual’s unique biological, psychological and socio-cultural factors and how these factors interact to impact their health and well-being. As such, we collaborate closely with other health providers.
Clinical Training Program
At Healgood, Clinical Trainees—graduate students completing their fieldwork as part of a counseling program—are immersed in a comprehensive, high-quality training experience designed to support their transformation into confident, competent entry-level counseling professionals.
We believe that life is worth healing—and that belief begins with how we train future therapists. Through intentional mentorship, meaningful clinical opportunities, and a strong supervisory framework, fully licensed clinicians at Healgood serve as educators, supervisors, and role models. Our goal is to help Clinical Trainees grow not only in skill, but in identity and purpose as clinicians.
Throughout the training experience, Trainees develop core competencies in Professionalism, Legal & Ethical Standards, Counseling and Assessment Skills, and a deep Commitment to Ongoing Professional Growth. Those who complete our Clinical Training Program emerge with the clinical foundation, insight, and confidence needed to step boldly into the next phase of their careers.
We select Trainees for unpaid, part-time/full-time Clinical Training Programs fulfilling the course requirements of Practicum, Internship I and Internship II. We prioritize applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in Healgood’s areas of specialization and who are eager to deepen their clinical skillset in a collaborative, relational environment.
Trainees engage in a wide range of supervised clinical and professional activities, including assessments and intakes, individual therapy, family and group therapy, consultation, supervision, didactic training, community engagement, and essential administrative tasks. These experiences are designed to help Trainees build the foundational competencies needed to grow into confident, skilled clinicians.
Our training focuses on mood and anxiety disorders as well as the full spectrum of eating disorders, offering advanced clinical experience within a private practice setting. Healgood integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
Throughout the Clinical Training Program, Trainees expand on their academic and prior clinical knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in a thriving, values-driven group practice. By the end of the program, our goal is for each Trainee to feel more confident in their clinical abilities, better prepared to work autonomously, and more informed about the operations of a small private practice.

FAQs
-
A: Absolutely! We value your interests and want to support your growth as a clinician. In addition to discussing these topics in supervision and case consultation, we can also provide additional resources such as recommended readings, training opportunities, and community resources to deepen your learning. At times, we may also be able to create opportunities for you to gain experience in your specific-areas at Healgood. For example, while we may not currently offer art-based or music-based groups, we would be open to discussing the possibility of supporting you in creating one if that aligns with your interests and the needs of our clients.

You’ll also have opportunities for clinical observation or "shadowing."
Weekly Time Commitment (Minimum 20 Hours Per Week, Direct & Indirect Combined):
A minimum of 8 direct hours of individual, family, or relationship counseling and/or assessment/intake services per week. Note: Client load will increase gradually over time.

-
A: We recognize that onboarding involves a lot of information, and it can feel overwhelming at first. Many trainees find the transition from coursework to hands-on clinical work to be both exciting and challenging. We support this transition in several ways:
Comprehensive Onboarding Materials: You’ll receive a detailed Clinical Training Program Orientation Packet and Onboarding Training Presentation, which serve as reference guides.
Structured but Flexible Support: We take time to answer your questions, provide real-time guidance, and encourage an “open-door” policy where you can reach out as needed.
Gradual Immersion: You won’t be expected to dive in all at once—we ease you into the experience so you feel confident and prepared as you begin seeing clients.
We want you to feel supported in your learning process, and we encourage open communication if you ever feel stuck or need extra guidance.
-
A: Trainees who thrive at Healgood typically share the following qualities:
A balance of independence and seeking support: Those who take initiative in their learning—while also reaching out for feedback and guidance when needed—tend to grow the most.
Curiosity and willingness to “dive in”: The best way to learn is through experience, and successful trainees embrace opportunities to engage in clinical work, contribute ideas, and ask thoughtful questions.
A collaborative mindset: Our team values working together, so being open to teamwork, case consultation, and shared learning makes for a fulfilling experience.
Flexibility and adaptability: Clinical work is dynamic, and those who can adjust, learn from new experiences, and stay open to feedback tend to feel the most confident by the end of their training.
