Size Diversity Competency Training For Healing Professionals Workbook
The Size Diversity Competency Training Workbook© by Chelsea Fielder-Jenks, MA, LPC-S, CEDS-S.
This 74-page workbook walks healing professionals (Mental Health, Medical, Allied Health, Dietitians, Fitness Industry, Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, and on…) through the four stages of building Size Diversity Competency: 1) building awareness, 2) education and analysis, 3) taking action, and 4) accepting accountability.
The healing arts and sciences is a primary source of sizeism, which leads to poor health outcomes and makes individuals less inclined to seek the care they need.
As healing professionals, it is our ethical duty to build competency — this includes expanding our knowledge of sizeism and doing our part to reduce any discrimination based on body size.
Through reading, reflection questions, suggested activities, and writing exercises, this workbook aids in meeting the following objectives.
Workbook Objectives
1. Provide at least 3 reasons why it is ethically important for healing professionals to be competent in size diversity.
2. Define key terms related to size diversity.
3. Recognize conventional health myths.
4. Identify their own level of implicit size bias.
5. Describe at least 3 ways to move toward a size inclusive healing practice.
And Much More!
